The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), Powai, Mumbai invites applications for the position of Project Scientist I under a sponsored research project titled “Wafer-scale Emitter and Detector Arrays for Multi-wavelength Room Temperature Photonic Quantum Technologies.”
The selected candidate will work on the development of advanced quantum transport simulation tools, electronic structure models, and device-level modelling for 2D material-based transistor structures involving materials such as MoS₂, WSe₂, WTe₂, and bilayer graphene. The project is part of indigenous software development under the “PrayogQP” software package.

Eligibility / Qualification
Essential Qualification:
Candidates must possess:
- Doctoral Degree in Science from a recognized university/institute
OR - Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university/institute or equivalent qualification.
Additional Requirements:
- Candidates should have relevant experience in computational modelling, semiconductor physics, quantum transport, or related fields.
- The qualifying degree must be obtained from a recognized institution.
Job Description
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing a 2D-materials module using fundamental electronic structure techniques.
- Creating lattice models based on electronic structure calculations.
- Developing quantum transport simulation modules using lattice models.
- Building electrostatic models for different materials and dielectric combinations.
- Implementing mode-space approaches for quantum transport calculations.
- Extending simulation approaches for:
- Bilayer graphene devices
- MoS₂-based transistors
- WTe₂-based devices
- WSe₂-based devices
- Contributing to indigenous software development under the PrayogQP software package.
Salary Details
- Consolidated Salary: ₹56,000 per month
- Additional Benefits: HRA as applicable
