Postdoctoral Fellow on ID20,: The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on the ID20 beamline. The fellow will participate in ongoing research programs, contribute to beamline operations, and support external users. They will also have the opportunity to develop their own research projects utilizing the unique capabilities of the ID20 beamline, which focuses on hard X-ray spectroscopy in the range of 4-20 KeV. The contract duration is 18 months, with a possibility of renewal.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in physics, chemistry, or a closely related science obtained within the last 3 years
  • Strong background in X-ray spectroscopy
  • Elementary programming skills in a high-level programming language (Python, Matlab, etc.)
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary staff and facility users
  • Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF)

Job Description: The postdoctoral fellow will work on the ID20 beamline at the ESRF, specializing in hard X-ray spectroscopy. The beamline offers two end stations for different types of experiments, including resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) and non-resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (X-ray Raman scattering, XRS). The fellow will contribute to ongoing research, support external users as a local contact, and develop their own research projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in X-ray spectroscopy and programming skills in a high-level language. The contract is initially for 18 months, with a possibility of renewal.
