University Assistant Postdoctoral in BioInvasions: The University of Vienna is seeking a highly motivated and qualified University Assistant (Postdoctoral) to join the Division of BioInvasions, Macroecology & Global Change at the Department of Botany and Biodiversity Research. The successful candidate will work on understanding and predicting the effects of environmental changes on the distribution and diversity of biota, with a particular focus on biological invasions. Job Description: The University Assistant (Postdoctoral) will play a leading role in research projects focusing on biodiversity patterns, particularly in the context of biological invasions and global change. The candidate will propose innovative research questions related to macroecology and macroevolutionary biology, with a specific emphasis on anthropogenic pressures. They will use established and innovative statistical modelling approaches to identify large-scale macroecological and macroevolutionary patterns and their underlying drivers. The successful candidate will work on extending the research questions to a wider range of organisms and regions, including animal taxa and understudied areas. Responsibilities include conceiving ideas, securing funding, conducting analyses, publishing scientific results, and mentoring students engaged in division projects. Additionally, the position includes teaching obligations of approximately 2 hours per week.
Profile:
- Doctoral degree/PhD in biology (or equivalent).

Extent of Employment: Job grading in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
