Scholarship Description: The Mittnenzweig lab at MDC focuses on developing new computational approaches for analyzing single-cell multiome, genomic, and spatial transcriptomics data. This scholarship aims to support a highly motivated PhD student in the development of novel machine learning methods for analyzing spatiotemporal single-cell data within the context of mammalian embryonic development. The research will also involve comparative studies with other vertebrate model species and synthetic embryo models.
Eligibility: To be eligible for this PhD scholarship, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Hold an MSc degree in computational or natural sciences.
- Possess a strong computational or quantitative focus (computational biology, bioinformatics, mathematics, or related field).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and scientific collaborators.
- Solid knowledge of statistics and experience with state-of-the-art machine learning methods.
