Postdoctoral Scholar Research Associate: The University of Southern California (USC) is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar Research Associate to join the Marine Environmental Biology Department at the USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. The position involves conducting research in the Jed Fuhrman Lab, focusing on understanding the interactions between marine microorganisms and their impact on plankton biogeographies. The research is part of the Simons Foundation-funded CBIOMES project.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. degree in microbial ecology or related field.
- Significant experience and publications in microbial ecology, including bioinformatics with ‘omics data, and working with mixed natural communities of microorganisms.
- Strong quantitative skills and broad microbial ecological and oceanographic understanding.
- Experience handling very large ‘omics datasets.
- Experience in both laboratory and field-based aquatic research.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
Job Description: The Postdoctoral Scholar Research Associate will:
- Analyze large sequence datasets (metagenomes, metatranscriptomes, 16S, 18S) from lab experiments and oceanographic measurements.
- Conduct experiments manipulating marine communities and use ‘omics data to study growth processes and microbial interactions.
- Collaborate with global ocean modelers on model development and improvement.
Salary Range: $64,480-$68,800
