Within this project, one of the PhD positions will investigate the role of (poly)crisis for transformative change from a complex adaptive system perspective. The work of this PhD focuses on investigating when and how polycrisis, such as Covid, Climate Change and the Ukrainian war, constitute formative moments for transformative change or when they rather reinforce existing structures and dynamics.

Project: A process-relational perspective on polycrisis and transformative change (one position)
The other will carry out research on transformations and crises adopting a process-relational perspective in an inter- and transdisciplinary setting. The work of this PhD will conceptualize and investigate the unfolding of transformative change from a process- relational perspective (PRP).

Project: MISTRA Finance to Revive Biodiversity (one position)
The third PhD candidate will join the research program MISTRA Finance to Revive Biodiversity. The program aims to provide cutting-edge transdisciplinary research to support the capacity of the financial sector to contribute significantly to enhancing the resilience of the biosphere, while also rapidly reducing the drivers of biodiversity loss. The candidate will be expected to, depart from the work of Lade, Crona, and others who have developed a prototype tool that accounts for interactions between climate, land use, and water, referred to here as an Earth System Impacts score.
Scholarship Description: This scholarship opportunity is linked to the research program MISTRA Finance to Revive Biodiversity (finbio.org), aiming to enhance biosphere resilience and combat biodiversity loss. Your role will involve developing tools and techniques to identify ‘nature positive’ business models and mitigate negative impacts on the environment, aligning with global biodiversity targets.
Eligibility: To be eligible, applicants must meet specific criteria:
- Eligibility for admission to a PhD program in Natural Science at Stockholm University.
