Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Paleovirology: The Department of Biology at the University of Oxford is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position in Paleovirology. The successful candidate will join the paleovirology research group under the supervision of Professor Katzourakis. Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD/DPhil in a relevant field of biology with a strong interest in virus evolution
- Experience in evolutionary analysis, programming, and genomics
- Familiarity with working with viruses
- Strong background or interest in paleovirology research
- Research experience in a related field
- Familiarity with programming and large-scale data handling (e.g., Python and SQL, or equivalent)
Job Description: The postholder will lead the evolutionary and computational aspects of the project, collaborating closely with team members working on computational and experimental aspects. Duties include the design and implementation of computational aspects, genomic analysis, and the development of state-of-the-art phylogenetic-based approaches for inferring evolutionary processes. The candidate will contribute to the training and development of the research team, demonstrating a proven track record of leading complex computational research in evolutionary biology.
