Job Description:
PhD Studentship: Synthesis and Characterisation of Iron-Based Catalysts
The successful candidate will:
- Work on the development of sustainable iron-catalysed substitution reactions of alcohols.
- Collaborate with experts from the University of Bath and Syngenta.
- Prepare well-defined iron complexes and conduct detailed mechanistic studies.
- Undertake a three-month placement at Syngenta.
- Probe catalyst speciation using various techniques and use X-ray crystallography for characterization.
- Conduct a detailed kinetics study on inter and intramolecular variants of the organic transformation.
