Postdoctoral Associate at Stony Brook University: Stony Brook University’s Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the Energy & Environmental Catalysis Lab under the guidance of Principal Investigator Dr. Tae Jin Kim. This position involves conducting research in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture, Natural Sciences, or related Engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will contribute to in-situ characterization experiments, data analysis, and the design and testing of high-low temperature cells.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in relevant disciplines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work in the laboratory in person
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with material characterization techniques (e.g., GC, XRD, AFM, Rheometer, FT-IR, UV-Vis, SEM, Optical microscope, Contact angle, and DSC)
- Familiarity with cellulose, hemicellulose, and cellulose nanofibrils
- Proficiency in chemical and enzymatic treatment of biomass materials
- Skilled in handling batch reactors, chemicals, and flammable compressed gases
- Strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations

- Conduct research experiments within the predetermined scope and methodology.
- Design and test in-situ characterization high-low temperature cells.
- Perform ex-situ/in-situ characterization experiments and analyze data.
- Present results to the research team, collaborators, and at national/international conferences.
- Publish research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Participate in manuscript writing, grant applications, and presentations.
- Lab maintenance, equipment upkeep, and supply ordering.
- Other duties as assigned, including attending scientific conferences and meetings.
