PhD Studentship: Arnold Scholarship: The University of Bristol’s School of Electrical, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering invites applications for the Arnold Scholarship, providing a unique opportunity for a first-class graduate to pursue a fully funded PhD in any Electrical and Electronic Engineering discipline. The scholarship is generously endowed by the Arnold Foundation in memory of Charles Leonard Arnold, the founder of MK Electric and inventor of the Three Pinned Safety Socket.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Minimum of a first-class master’s degree (or international equivalent) in a science, mathematics, or engineering discipline.
  • Applicants without a master’s qualification may be considered with a first-class undergraduate degree.
  • Proficiency in English at Profile Level E or equivalent.

Job Description: The successful candidate will conduct research towards a PhD in any Electrical and Electronic Engineering discipline. They will provide regular updates on their progress to the family of Charles Leonard Arnold, demonstrating their commitment to the pursuit of education of the highest quality. The scholarship covers fees and stipend at the UKRI rate (£18,622) for three years, along with a £2,500 per annum consumables grant.
