Eligibility/Qualification–

Candidates must possess:

1. M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech. in any of the following disciplines:
   • Computer Science
   • Information Technology
   • Electronics

   • Computational Biology
   • Bioinformatics
2. At least three years of research experience in the field of machine learning or deep learning.
3. At least one peer-reviewed paper published in an SCI-indexed journal or conference proceedings.
4. Good computer programming skills.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates having:

• Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or Biomedical Data Analysis.
• Industrial experience in machine learning/deep learning.
• Higher qualifications and relevant research experience.

Age Limit

The candidate should not be more than 40 years of age as on 02 September 2026.

Usual age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD candidates. Age relaxation may also be considered for outstanding candidates or candidates possessing relevant experience.

Job/Position Description- 

The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata invites applications for One (01) Project Scientist on a purely temporary basis under the project titled “National Network Project of Bose Institute with Indian Statistical Institute and Vidyasagar University.” The position is based in the Machine Intelligence Unit (MIU) and focuses on research involving machine learning, deep learning, computational biology, bioinformatics, and biomedical data analysis.

Designation: Project Scientist

The selected Project Scientist will work in the Machine Intelligence Unit (MIU), Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, under the National Network Project of Bose Institute with Indian Statistical Institute and Vidyasagar University.

The role is expected to involve research and technical activities related to:

• Machine learning and deep learning.
• Computational and data-driven research.

Salary / Remuneration

The selected candidate will receive a fixed pay of ₹56,000 per month, along with 24% House Rent Allowance (HRA).
