Research Area & Project Description
The project focuses on plant genome engineering and crop improvement under climate stress conditions. The appointed Research Associate-I will work specifically on:
- Development of chickpea lines with combined tolerance to dry root rot and drought stress through targeted gene editing.
- Functional characterization, molecular screening, and plant phenotyping.
- Execution of laboratory workflows and any additional research tasks allocated by the Principal Investigator.
Eligibility & Qualification Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the following educational and research requirements:
- Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in Life Sciences with a strong publication record in relevant fields, including at least one research paper published in an SCI-indexed journal.
- Required Technical Experience: Prior hands-on research experience in gene editing technologies.
- Desirable Experience: Prior experience in chickpea transformation, functional characterization, and/or plant phenotyping will be given preference.
General Terms and Conditions
- The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project tenure.
- The appointment will follow NIPGR/DBT/DST guidelines.
- The initial appointment is for one year, subject to extension based on candidate performance and project requirements.
