About- The University of Kashmir, Hazratbal, Srinagar, has invited online applications from eligible candidates for Assistant Professor & Equivalent positions across various departments, institutes and centres at the Main Campus. The posts carry Academic Level-10 of the 7th CPC, with a pay scale of ₹57,700–₹1,82,400 plus applicable allowances.

Eligibility/Qualification–

General Qualification

For Assistant Professor posts, candidates generally require a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks, or an equivalent grade, in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian university or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

Subject-Specific Requirements

Certain posts have additional/specific qualifications:

• Bio-Informatics: PG qualification with at least 55% in Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Clinical Biochemistry.
• Central Asian Studies – Archaeology: Master’s in Culture & Archaeology, Archaeology, or History with a PG Diploma in Archaeology.
• Distance & Online Education – Home Science: PG qualification in Home Science with specialization in Human Development.
• Lifelong Learning: PG qualification in Lifelong Learning, Social Work, Sociology, Home Science (Extension & Communication), or Rural Development.
• Geo-Informatics: PG qualification in Geoinformatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, or Applied Geology with PG Diploma in Remote Sensing.
• Home Science: PG qualification in Home Science with specialization in Dietetics & Clinical Nutrition.
• Iqbal Institute of Culture & Philosophy: PG qualification in Urdu or Philosophy, along with substantiated research in Iqbal Studies. Ph.D. in Iqbal Studies will be preferred.

NET / SET / Ph.D. Requirement

NET is compulsory for candidates possessing only postgraduate degrees. For candidates belonging to the UT of J&K who are not NET qualified, SET is required. Candidates without NET/SET who hold a Ph.D. in the concerned subject in accordance with applicable UGC Ph.D. regulations are exempted from the NET/SET requirement.

A 5% relaxation in Bachelor’s and Master’s level marks is available to eligible SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently Abled candidates as specified in the advertisement.

Assistant Professor & Equivalent

Selected candidates will be appointed as Assistant Professors and will be responsible for teaching, research and related academic responsibilities in their respective departments/institutes/centres.

The advertisement also states that during probation, appointees are expected to make consistent efforts toward quality research publications, pursue research of tangible standards and undertake at least one research project in their area of specialization.

Selection is based on performance in the interview, with shortlisting undertaken where the number of applications is sufficiently large. The shortlisting criteria consider academic record, M.Phil./Ph.D., NET/JRF/SET, research publications, teaching/post-doctoral experience and awards.

7. Pay the ₹1,200 application fee online. PwD candidates are exempted from the fee.
8. Submit the downloaded/printed application form along with required self-attested enclosures and payment acknowledgement.
