About- IIT Dharwad is a premier Science and Technology Institute established as an Institute of national importance in 2016. IIT Dharwad presently has ten Departments namely, Biosciences and Bioengineering; Chemical Engineering; Chemistry; Civil Engineering; Computer Science and Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Humanities and Social Sciences; Mathematics; Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering; and Physics. Faculty Position in IIT
Research/Job Area-
Applications are invited from all specialization areas in the following departments:
- Arts, Science and Design
- Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI)
- Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)
Preference will be given to candidates working in high-priority research areas aligned with the institute’s immediate and future academic needs.

Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential Educational Qualification
- Ph.D. in the relevant specialization.
- First Class or equivalent at the preceding degree(s).
- Excellent academic record throughout.
Assistant Professor Grade I
Candidates should possess:
- Minimum 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching, research, or industrial experience (excluding Ph.D. period).
- At least 2 SCI journal publications outside Ph.D. work.
- One ongoing sponsored research project (for academic candidates).
- Contributions to teaching laboratories.
Associate Professor
Candidates should possess:
- Minimum 6 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/professional experience.
- At least 3 years as Assistant Professor Grade I in premier institutions.
- Minimum 4 SCI journal publications after Ph.D.
- Successful Ph.D. supervision.
- Sponsored research projects.
- Strong publication, patent, and research leadership record.
Relevant industrial experience, innovation, entrepreneurship, patents, and research collaborations are highly desirable.

Candidates with less than the required post-Ph.D. experience may be considered for Assistant Professor Grade II (Contractual) based on the recommendations of the selection committee.
Selected faculty members will be expected to:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Develop innovative teaching methodologies and laboratory experiments.
- Conduct high-quality research leading to SCI publications.
- Supervise B.Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D. students.
- Secure externally funded sponsored research projects.
- Build collaborations with industry and research organizations.
- Participate in curriculum development, academic outreach, and institutional service.
- Contribute to innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer activities.
