About- Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhagalpur (IIIT Bhagalpur) is one of the 25 IIITs set up by MoE, Govt. of India under the Act of Parliament, IIIT (PPP) Act, 2017, and it is an “Institute of National Importance.” It is a joint venture of Govt. of India (50%), Govt. of Bihar (35%) and BELTRON (15%).

The Institute was established in the year of 2017 and currently functioning with B. Tech, M. Tech, and Ph.D. programs in three branches, namely Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering.

Eligibility/Qualification– 

Professor of Practice (PoP)

Applicants should:

• Be distinguished professionals from industry, government, entrepreneurship, or related engineering sectors.
• Possess at least 15 years of professional experience, preferably in senior leadership positions.
• Have demonstrated expertise and significant professional achievements.
• Academic qualifications are desirable but not mandatory for exceptionally accomplished professionals.
• Publications and conventional faculty eligibility criteria are not mandatory.
• Maximum age for Institute-funded PoP positions: 67 years on the last date of application.
• Professor of Practice positions are not intended for serving or retired teaching faculty.

Adjunct Faculty

Applicants should:

• Be retired Professors or Associate Professors from:
  • IITs
  • NITs
  • IIITs
  • Central Universities
  • State Universities
  • Other comparable institutions
• Possess an engineering background with:
  • International research visibility
  • High-quality journal publications
  • Government-funded research project experience
  • M.Tech./M.Phil./Ph.D. supervision experience
  • Patent and consultancy experience
• Preference will be given to applicants having Web of Science h-index of 10 or above.

Job/Position Description- 

The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bhagalpur, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has released a Rolling Advertisement (Advt. No. IIITBH/ADVT/1025/2026/14) inviting applications for Professor of Practice (PoP) and Adjunct Faculty positions across multiple engineering and computing disciplines. These positions aim to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, applied research, innovation, and practice-oriented education.

Designation

• Professor of Practice (PoP)
• Adjunct Faculty

Selected candidates will contribute to academic excellence by:

• Developing and designing innovative curricula.
• Introducing and teaching new courses.
• Delivering lectures and mentoring students.
• Supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup activities.
• Strengthening industry-academia collaborations.
• Conducting workshops, seminars, and faculty development programmes.
• Undertaking collaborative research and consultancy with regular faculty.
• Developing practice-oriented course materials.
• Organizing skill development programmes, boot camps, and professional training.
• Facilitating sponsored research and consultancy projects (Adjunct Faculty).

Appointments are temporary and intended to strengthen teaching, research, innovation, and institutional development.

Salary & Benefits

Professor of Practice

• Consolidated remuneration as mutually agreed by the Selection Committee.
• Institute accommodation may be provided subject to availability.

Adjunct Faculty

• Honorarium: ₹1,00,000 per month.
• Residential accommodation may be provided subject to availability on normal license fee.
