Eligibility/Qualification–
- Basic Qualification: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree. A consistently good academic record throughout is required.
- Age Limit: Candidates should not have completed 36 years as of December 31, 2026 (Relaxation applies for OBC, SC/ST, PwD, and women candidates).
- Experience Requirements:
- Grade II: Candidates with less than three years of post-Ph.D. industrial, research, or teaching experience.
- Grade I: Candidates with at least three years of post-Ph.D. industrial, research, or teaching experience.
- Nationality: Open to Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI). Foreign nationals may be appointed on a fixed-term contract basis.
Job/Position Description-
- Designation: Assistant Professor (Grade I and Grade II)
- Location: IIT Madras, Chennai – 600 036, Tamil Nadu, India.
- Pay Structure:
- Assistant Professor Grade II: 7th CPC Pay Level 10 (Minimum Basic Pay: 70,900 USD/INR). Total emoluments approx. 1,71,300 INR (with HRA).
- Assistant Professor Grade I: 7th CPC Pay Level 12 (Minimum Basic Pay: 1,01,500 USD/INR). Total emoluments approx. 2,29,400 INR (with HRA).
Selected candidates are expected to:
- Teaching: Lead core and elective courses, develop new course work, and provide mentorship to students.
- Research: Conduct independent, high-quality research, guide Ph.D. and M.S. scholars, and secure sponsored research or consulting projects.
- Service: Contribute to institute building through administrative roles and participation in departmental activities.
- Professional Development: Engage with industry and other research institutions to foster innovation and product development.
