Research/Job Area- Mechanical Engineering

Location-BIT Mesra, Ranchi, Jharkhand 

Eligibility/Qualification–

Assistant Professor

1. Ph.D^*. in advertised discipline from an institution of high repute.
2. First class UG & PG degree in advertised discipline and a good academic record throughout.
3. At least 2 research publications in SCI/SCIE indexed journals.
4. Potential for excellence in teaching and research.

Associate Professor

1. PhD* in advertised discipline from an institution of high repute.
2. First class UG & PG degree in advertised discipline. 
3. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching plus research as Assistant Professor in a reputed academic institution.

After becoming Assistant Professor following minimum performance shall be required:

1. A minimum of 12 publications in SCI/SCIE/SSCI/AHCI indexed journals. 
2. Completed at least two sponsored R&D /industrial consultancy project of   value Rs. 30 lakhs or more as PI.
3. Guided at least one PhD independently.
4. A total research score of eighty (80) as per the criteria given in Appendix I, Table 1.
5. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, research and sponsored R&D /industrial consultancy activities.

Professor

1. PhD* in advertised discipline from an institution of high repute.
2. First class UG & PG degree in advertised discipline. 
3. A minimum of 10 years of experience of teaching and research experience in University/National level Institutions of which at least 3 years as an Associate Professor.
4. Sustained and proven excellence in teaching, research and sponsored R&D /industrial consultancy activities.

After becoming Associate Professor following minimum performance criteria shall apply:

1. A minimum of 90 Research Score as per Appendix I, Table 1
2. A minimum of 6 publications in SCI/SCIE/SSCI/AHCI indexed journals with high impact as sole / corresponding author.
3. Guided at least one PhD students independently.
4. Completed at least one sponsored R&D Project/ Industrial Consultancy of value Rs. 20 lakhs or more as PI.
5. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology mediated teaching learning process.

Note: Exceptionally qualified candidate(s) not fulfilling some criterion above may also apply. However, the decision of Birla Institute of Technology shall be final.

Those who have superannuated from technology institutes of high repute, fulfil the requirements mentioned above and are below the age of 67 years may also apply for contractual Visiting Professor with consolidated honorarium of Rs 1,00,000/ PM.

How to Apply- 

1. Applicants have to fill and submit the application form available at our website www.bitmesra.ac.in. Applicants should ensure that, the application is duly signed by the applicant, and forwarded through proper channel along with the required DD and other credentials as mentioned in point 07 and 08 of the information /instruction and send in a sealed envelope by registered post/ speed post to the Registrar, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi – 835215 so as to reach him on or before 15 May 2019. Kindly super scribe the envelope with the post applied for, the Department and own phone number.
2. The Non-refundable Demand draft, towards application fee, shall be drawn in favour of “Birla Institute of Technology” payable at Ranchi.  The amount of DD shall be Rs. 750/- for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PHs and Rs. 1500/- for candidates belonging to other categories. Candidates are advised to write their name, own phone number and post applied for on the backside of the demand draft.
3. Separate confidential letters of recommendation by three referees should be submitted by e-mail to dean.fasr@bitmesra.ac.in.
4. Without submission of the documents mentioned above, the application shall not be considered.

Check-list of Documents to be submitted with (by hand or by post) along with the application.

1. Application duly signed by the applicant and forwarded through proper channel.
2. Self-attested Copies of all certificates, Mark sheets from SSC/HSC/Matriculation onwards.
3. Self-attested copies of any other relevant certificates / testimonials to substantiate Research Score (RS) score claimed.
4. Self-attested Copies of Caste Certificates for (SC/ST/OBC), certificates for Persons with Disabilities.
5. A No Objection Certificate from employer (if working in Government, Semi-Government, Autonomous Bodies, Public Undertakings, University and Educational Institutions), if the application is not forwarded through proper channel.
6. Original Demand Draft (separate Demand Draft for each post, if applied for more than one post) to be attached along with the application form.
7. Separate confidential letters of recommendation by three referees should be submitted by e-mail to dean.fasr@bitmesra.ac.in.
