Eligibility/Qualification–
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- PhD degree with first class or equivalent in preceding degree
- Strong academic record throughout
- Minimum 2 research publications (published/accepted) in peer-reviewed journals
- Must be within 5 years of PhD viva-voce at the time of application
- Age Limit: Maximum 35 years
- Relaxation as per Government of India norms:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC-NCL: 3 years
- PwD: 5 years
- Women candidates: additional 5 years
- Relaxation as per Government of India norms:
- IIT Guwahati PhD graduates are NOT eligible
- Open to Indian and foreign nationals
- Foreign candidates must obtain Government of India approval before joining

Institute Postdoctoral Fellow (IPDF)
Selected fellows will:
- Conduct advanced research under IIT Guwahati faculty mentors
- Work within assigned academic divisions
- Submit to performance evaluation every 6 months
- Engage in limited academic duties (up to 8 hours/week), including:
- Teaching assistance
- Tutorials and lab work
- Instrument handling
- Mentor UG/PG students (without acting as official guide/co-guide)
Benefits
- Fellowship:
- ₹60,000/month + 18% HRA (1st year)
- ₹5,000 annual increment based on performance
- Contingency Grant: ₹50,000/year
- Leave Benefits:
- 24 days ordinary leave/year
- 15 days special casual leave (for conferences/workshops)
- Maternity/Paternity Leave:
- 180 days maternity / 15 days paternity (once during tenure)
