Job Description
The successful candidate will work within a FAPESP Young Investigator project investigating how the SCF/CRL1 ubiquitin ligase regulates the DNA replication program in Leishmania.
The research involves:
- Target Characterization: Using genomic engineering (CRISPR/Cas9 and DiCre).
- Experimental Techniques: Cell biology and biochemistry methods, including microscopy, pulldown, ubiquitination assays, and proteomics.
- Bioinformatics: Utilizing tools such as MFA-seq and DNAscent to analyze the functional impact of ubiquitination on genome replication.
Eligibility & Qualification
- Mandatory:
- Scientific motivation and availability for full-time dedication to the project.
- Ability to read and interpret scientific literature in English.
- Undergraduate degree (completed or expected by the start date) in Biological Sciences, Biomedicine, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, or related fields.
- Approval in the admission exam for the Direct Doctorate program at the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology, FMRP-USP.
- Compliance with FAPESP regulations for Direct Doctorate fellowships.
- Desirable:
- Strong communication, organization, and collaborative skills.
- Prior experience in molecular biology, working with Leishmania or other trypanosomatids, CRISPR/Cas9, DiCre, and microscopy.
- Basic knowledge of bioinformatics and sequencing data analysis.
