Eligibility / Qualification

  • Open to candidates of any nationality, sex, or age.
  • Applicants must hold:
  • an Italian Laurea (Vecchio Ordinamento) or a Laurea specialistica/magistrale, or
  • a foreign second level/master degree suitable for access to Ph.D. programs in the awarding country.
  • Final-year students may apply, provided they complete their degree by October 31, 2025.
  • Some scholarships funded through the regional call require birth or residency in Sicily and age below 35 at the closing date.
  • For foreign degrees, a Declaration of Value or CIMEA Certificate of Comparability is required.

Description

  • Scholarships are available for each Ph.D. program (at least 2 per program through regional and university funding).
  • Scholarships amount to €16,243 per year (gross); increased by up to 50% for approved research stays abroad.
  • Some courses may have additional scholarships funded by public or private, Italian or foreign partners.
  • Courses generally last 3 years (Economics, Management and Decision Making: 4 years).
  • Each program’s detailed research focus, funding source, and specific requirements are available in the course information annexes.
  • Additional support for research activities is provided via an annual budget of 10% of the scholarship amount.
