Ph.D. Student and Postdoc Positions: We are currently recruiting candidates for Ph.D. student and Postdoctoral positions in the field of Dynamics and Predictability of Extreme Weather. Research Area: Dynamics and Predictability of Extreme Weather

Location: The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute of Earth Sciences

Eligibility/Qualification: To be considered for these positions, candidates should meet the following qualifications:

  • For Ph.D. Student:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) in Earth Sciences, Physics, Computer Science, or another relevant field.
    • Knowledge and experience in data processing and analysis.
    • Strong programming skills.
    • Proficiency in both Hebrew and English.
  • For Postdoctoral Researcher:
    • Ph.D. in a relevant field (Ph.D. advantage).
    • Experience in running meteorological models is an advantage.
    • Proficiency in both Hebrew and English.
    • Strong programming skills.
    • Organizational ability, independence, initiative, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team.

Job Description:

Ph.D. Student and Postdoc Positions in Dynamics and Predictability of Extreme Weather

As a Ph.D. student or Postdoctoral researcher in our team, you will have the opportunity to work on research related to the dynamics and predictability of extreme weather events. Key responsibilities and tasks may include:

  • Processing and analyzing meteorological data.
  • Running and improving meteorological models.
  • Investigating the predictability of extreme weather events.
  • Collaborating with a team of researchers in a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment.

The preferred start date for these positions is October 2023, with some flexibility.
