Research Area

Systems Biology and Biomedicine with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

Location

Belval Campus, University of Luxembourg

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, or a related field.
  • Experience in structural and functional protein annotation.
  • Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX systems and shared compute infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis.
  • Excellent command of scientific English (written and spoken); knowledge of German and/or French is an advantage.
  • Must not hold a doctoral degree and must comply with international mobility conditions: no residence in the recruiting country for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.

Description

This PhD position is part of the METAMIC 3 project, funded by the European Commission under Horizon Europe, aiming to address One Health challenges by integrating microbiome science with translational applications. Responsibilities include:

  • Multi-omics data integration and workflow improvement.
  • Development of machine learning algorithms for identifying antibiotic-associated proteins.
  • Supporting experimental studies, including metagenomic sequencing.
  • Participating in secondments at various institutions to enhance skills and collaborations.
