PhD Position in Organic Synthesis: The University of Bern is offering a fully funded PhD position in the Sidler research group within the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Pharmaceutical Sciences (DCBP). The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research focusing on the design and synthesis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) for applications in organic electronics, sensors, and electrochromic materials.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Strong background in organic synthesis

  • Motivated, curious, and reliable nature
  • Experience with spectroscopic and electrochemical methods is advantageous but not required

Job Description

  • Conduct multistep synthesis and characterization of organic compounds.
  • Develop novel π-conjugated molecular systems.
  • Explore the structure–property relationships and functionality of materials in optoelectronic and sensing devices.
  • Collaborate in a supportive and dynamic research environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities.
