Eligibility/Qualification

  • MSc or Engineer degree in physics, optics, lasers, or equivalent qualification
  • Basic training and hands-on experience in experimental optics, lasers, and fiber optics
  • Knowledge and interest in theoretical physics and numerical modeling using Matlab or Python
  • Open-mindedness and curiosity in working with computer scientists and physicists
  • Ability to take initiative and work both autonomously and in a group
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English
  • Basic level of French is ideal for effective communication

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct advanced scientific research in photonics, focusing on photonic crystal fibers for nonlinear optics
  • Design and develop state-of-the-art ultra-stable supercontinuum sources
  • Aim to design next-generation polarization-maintaining all-normal dispersion optical fibers for ultra-stable supercontinuum generation in the visible to near-infrared range (0.6 µm to 1.4 µm)
  • Develop supercontinuum-seeded optical parametric sources through optical parametric amplification (OPA) from 0.7 µm to 2 µm and direct difference frequency generation (DFG) from 3 µm to 10 µm, driven by novel high-repetition-rate ultrafast Ytterbium lasers
  • Work within the European Project VISUAL, in collaboration with Amplitude Systems, Fastlite companies, the University of Lille, and INPHYNI in Nice
