Research Area

The focus will be on enhancing decision support algorithms through the development of statistical methodologies that express uncertainty in causal algorithms and evaluating effectiveness via patient interviews.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A PhD (or equivalent international degree) in statistics with experience in biomedical data science, biostatistics, or bioinformatics.
  • Experience in developing clinical prediction models and quantifying prediction uncertainties.
  • Knowledge of modern causal inference techniques.
  • Teaching experience in research design, data analysis, and/or data engineering.
  • Proficiency in R programming and familiarity with data manipulation and machine learning libraries.
  • A record of authored publications or articles in preparation.

Job Description

In this dual role, the successful candidate will:

  • Develop and teach educational materials on data science for Bachelor’s and Master’s programs at the Faculty of Medicine.
  • Conduct research to improve decision support algorithms and develop statistical methods that enhance causal predictions’ transparency.
  • Evaluate the usability and acceptance of these methods through interviews with patients with type II diabetes and their caregivers.
  • Work within the Department of Biomedical Data Sciences, collaborating with the Medical Statistics and Medical Decision Making sections.
