Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, or related fields
- Proficiency in traditional and/or modern cloning techniques is advantageous
- Ideally, experience in microbiology and biochemistry of aerobic/anaerobic organisms
- Knowledge of microbial fermentation is beneficial
- Good to excellent proficiency in chemistry and/or biochemistry
- Expertise in chemical analytics such as gas and liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry
- Demonstrated publication record
- Proficient in German and English, spoken and written
Job Description:
- Cultivation of microorganisms (aerobic/anaerobic)
- Metabolic engineering of syngas-fermenting microorganisms
- Fermentation in a 3.7L scale gas fermentation facility
- Characterization of product strains at transcript, protein, and product levels
- Analysis using GC-MS (e.g., alcohols, acids) and LC-MS/MS (e.g., targeted proteomics, intermediates)
- Contribution to publications, patents, and presentations
- Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team
- Application of modern methods of strain improvement (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9)
