Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Investigating the fundamental role of DNA damage in aging and how inheritance of stable genomes is regulated using both genetic and biochemical approaches primarily in the C. elegans but also in mammalian systems to investigate the molecular basis of aging and inheritance.
Location: Cologne, Germany
Institution: Institute for Genome Stability in Aging and Disease, CECAD Research Center, University of Cologne
Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants should have a PhD degree and a solid background in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, or bioinformatics.
Job Description: We are seeking highly motivated Postdoc candidates who are interested in investigating the fundamental role of DNA damage in aging and how inheritance of stable genomes is regulated. The successful candidate will work at the Institute for Genome Stability in Aging and Disease at the CECAD Research Center, University of Cologne, and will use both genetic and biochemical approaches primarily in the C. elegans but also in mammalian systems to investigate the molecular basis of aging and inheritance. The main aim of the research is to understand how DNA damage causes aging and cancer and how genome instability impacts genetic inheritance. Furthering our knowledge of the mechanisms how organisms respond to DNA damage will give us a better insight into the biology of aging and inheritance and might lead to the development of therapeutic strategies aimed at prevention of aging-related diseases.
How to Apply: To apply, please send your CV, letter of intent, list of publications, and names and addresses of three references to bjoern.schumacher[at]uni-koeln.de.
