Research Area
The OHSU Dermatology Research Division merges basic, clinical, and translational research focused on epithelial cell cancers and dermatologic diseases. This role specifically contributes to research on cancer and inflammation of the skin, aiming to understand the causes and improve future treatments for muco-cutaneous diseases.
Job Description
The Post Doctoral Scholar will be responsible for a range of experimental and administrative duties:
- Experimental Work: Independently perform cell culture experiments, tissue processing (human skin, tumor, and blood), and advanced molecular techniques.
- Techniques:
- Processing samples to extract single cells, nuclei, DNA, RNA, and protein.
- Histologic work, including chromogenic/fluorescent labeling and imaging.
- Preparation of spatial, single-cell, and bulk RNA libraries (10X Genomics protocols: Visium, Chromium, Chromium Flex, and Epi Multiome).
- Flow cytometry analysis.
- Data & Documentation: Contribute to data analysis, documentation, and the preparation of figures for publication.
- Lab Operations: Support daily lab functions (e.g., ordering supplies), oversee and train students or temporary personnel, and attend departmental/research meetings.
Eligibility / Qualifications
Required:
- PhD in a related field (molecular, cell biology, or biochemistry).
- Experience varies depending on years of postdoctoral training completed.
- Fluency with mathematics/basic statistics and MS Excel.
- Proficiency in biochemistry, molecular biology research techniques, and tissue culture.
Preferred:
- Experience/training in bioinformatics.
- Prior experience in imaging, histology, single-cell transcriptome analysis, R programming, or Python programming.
- Knowledge of immunology, dermatology, or sex hormone biology.
