Research Focus
The successful candidate will work at the intersection of fundamental symmetries, nuclear and atomic physics. Key goals include:
- Developing laser-cooling techniques for trapped ions.
- Integrating the laser-cooling trap with the JYFLTRAP Penning-trap mass spectrometer.
- Enhancing measurements to test the Standard Model of particle physics and refining data for targeted radionuclide therapy (cancer treatment).
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree (or near completion) in physics or a related field.
- Essential Skills: Strong motivation for experimental research, excellent problem-solving abilities, teamwork skills for an international environment, and proficiency in English.
- Advantageous Experience: Experimental atomic/nuclear/particle physics, laser spectroscopy, ion trapping, vacuum technology, electronics, data acquisition, or simulation tools (e.g., Python, SimIon, Comsol).

- Setting up, operating, and optimizing laser systems.
- Designing and commissioning beam-manipulation devices.
- Analyzing and interpreting precision mass measurements.
