Eligibility/Qualification

  • Essential:
  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject area such as biomaterials.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant materials or biomedical discipline.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research with evidence of outputs (publications, presentations).
  • Technical expertise in culture of primary human mammalian cells and tissues.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience in microbial culture and antimicrobial assay design.
  • Engagement with medical device stakeholders.

Job Description

The successful candidates will undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct research aligned with project objectives.
  • Maintain and culture bacterial isolates; conduct antimicrobial assays.
  • Engage with Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) groups to ensure clinical relevance.
  • Maintain accurate research records and adhere to Health & Safety policies.
  • Prepare presentations for internal and external audiences, contribute to manuscripts and funding applications.
  • Support the wider research group, assisting students and other postdoctoral researchers.
