Eligibility-

The candidate must have a PhD in aerospace/mechanical/chemical/civil engineering or any other relevant department of a recognized university/institute. The candidate must have scored a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade for each academic qualifications (UG, PG, and PhD if applicable) and a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in class 10th and 12th. Experienced in optical flow diagnostic techniques (e.g. PIV, PTV, IRT) and/or advanced data processing. Knowledge of AI-ML-based data processing tools or experience of facility development will be an added benefit.

Job/Position Description- 

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position in the Laboratory of Unsteady Flows and Turbulence experiments (LUFTe) headed by Dr. Sumit Sunil Tambe at Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT Gandhinagar, Palaj, Gujarat, India 382355.  

Position: Post doctoral fellow.

Duration: One year.

Salary: INR 72,000 – 84,000 per month consolidated. (depending on experience and as per the institute’s norms).

Job description: 

The research activities at LUFTe focus on probing transitional and turbulent flows relevant to aircraft, UAVs, wind turbine, gas turbine engines, etc; and on devising flow control strategies to achieve drag reduction. The measurements are predominantly laser-based optical flow diagnostics (e.g. PIV). The post doc is expected to spearhead optical flow diagnostics of unsteady, transitional, and turbulent flows; use and develop advanced data analysis techniques to bring out the coherent structures in the flows and their dynamics from the measurement data; and disseminate the results in journal articles and international conferences. The role includes co-guiding research students and contributing to the design and development of the lab facilities. Active participation in the research proposal writing and teaching activities is encouraged.
