Postdoctoral Fellow in Plant Pathobiome: The Leveau lab at UC Davis is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to explore the plant pathobiome, specifically focusing on microbial communities associated with the rhizosphere of carrots.

Eligibility/Qualification:
Basic qualifications (required at time of application):
- PhD in microbiology, microbial ecology, plant pathology, host-microbe interactions, or similar.
- Experience in sampling and DNA-based profiling of microbial communities using shotgun sequencing and/or amplicon sequencing.
Preferred qualifications (not required but beneficial):
- Experience with AI tools for microbiome data analysis.
- Knowledge of culture-dependent approaches to plant microbiomes.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, databases, and R.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to research.
Job Description: The successful candidate will conduct experiments involving the sampling of carrots, extraction of microbial DNA, metagenomic sequencing, and bioinformatic analysis. Collaborating with Dr. Johan Leveau at UC Davis and Dr. Steven Klosterman at USDA-ARS in Salinas, they will focus on soilborne diseases of carrots to develop microbiome-based solutions for sustainable carrot production. Opportunities for skill advancement, mentoring, and manuscript/grant preparation will be provided.
