Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Materials: The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan is seeking applications for multiple postdoctoral research fellow positions. The positions are available in the areas of polymer synthesis, surface science, robotics, machine learning, and instrumentation. The research fellows will join an interdisciplinary team supervised by Profs. Anish Tuteja, Abdon Pena-Francesch, Geeta Mehta, and Pramod Reddy, and will contribute to an active DOD-sponsored project focused on the design and synthesis of zwitterionic polymers, glycolipids, and robotic instrumentation for automated high-throughput characterization of ice formation and adhesion.
Designation: Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Research Area: Polymer chemistry, robotics, surface engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, data science, electrical engineering, or a related field
Location: University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI
Eligibility/Qualification:
- A Ph.D. in polymer chemistry, robotics, surface engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, data science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience conducting research on tight timelines.
- Strong publication record, good communication, and interpersonal skills.
Job Description: The postdoctoral research fellow will work as part of a fast-paced research team, contributing to all aspects of high impact applied research. This includes designing and executing experiments, analyzing data, preparing manuscripts, presenting results, and mentoring. The research fellows will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities in the PIs’ laboratories and UM’s advanced instrumentation facilities.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience in glycolipid/zwitterionic polymer synthesis and characterization.
- Previous experience in automated chemistry, high-throughput measurements, and machine learning data analysis.
