Postdoctoral Researcher in Biodiversity Conservation- Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Biodiversity Conservation Strategies for Mediterranean Forests. The successful candidate will contribute to the INTEGRADIV project consortium, develop novel conservation prioritization approaches based on socio-ecological understanding and spatial modelling, and publish scientific papers and reach out to stakeholders.

Eligibility/Qualification:

PhD degree in ecology or geography with proven experience in spatial analysis and modelling, knowledge of European landscapes, good writing and communication skills.

Job Description:

The postdoctoral researcher will generate spatially-explicit maps of conservation priorities for biodiversity and ecosystem services in Mediterranean forests, a global biodiversity hotspot. The analysis will rely on cutting-edge modelling and conservation planning approaches to integrate different facets of biodiversity, exploring the importance of climate change, land use change, connectivity, and economic costs. The postdoc will also co-design conservation approaches with non-academic partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to and collaborate within the INTEGRADIV project consortium
  • Develop novel ways of doing conservation prioritization based on socio-ecological understanding and spatial modelling
  • Integrate stakeholder co-design in spatial prioritization algorithms
  • Publish scientific papers and reach out to stakeholders
