PostDoctoral Researcher in Yeast Biotechnology: Ghent University is seeking a PostDoctoral Researcher in Yeast Biotechnology to join the BioPort research group at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering. The successful candidate will work on the FWO-WEAVE project “Study and engineering of C1 TRansport over Yeast membranes: towards carbon-neutral microbial cell factories (CiTrY)” focusing on transporter protein discovery and engineering.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Hold a thesis-based doctorate in Bioscience Engineering, Biochemistry, Metabolic engineering, Applied Microbiology, Microbial Biotechnology, or related fields obtained after August 1st, 2018.
- Experience with molecular biology, microbiology, and advanced yeast strain engineering.
- Strongly recommended experience with Komagataella phaffii (Pichia pastoris) production.
- Experience with industrial biotechnology, synthetic biology, adaptive evolution, or fermentation technology is a plus.
- Experience with transporter proteins and their engineering is a plus.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
- Demonstrated scientific maturity, independence, and ability to think innovatively.
- Strong coordination, communication, and collaboration skills.
Job Description:
The selected candidate will lead research efforts on the CiTrY project, focusing on investigating and improving transport mechanisms of C1 substrates over microbial cell factory membranes. Responsibilities include academic research, guiding PhD students, project coordination, and small tasks to support education and grant writing.
