Postdoctoral Scholar – Carbon Transitions: The University of California Santa Barbara’s Environmental Markets Lab (emLab) and Clean Energy Transformation Lab (CETlab) invite applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position. The successful candidate will lead research in low-carbon and just transitions in electricity systems, focusing on India and other regions. The role involves developing operational and planning models, spatial analysis of generation resources, load forecasting, and climate and health impact analysis.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Basic qualifications (required at time of application):
    • Completed all requirements for a Ph.D. (or equivalent) except the dissertation in engineering, interdisciplinary energy studies, or a related field.
  • Additional qualifications (required at time of start):
    • PhD in engineering, interdisciplinary energy studies, or a closely related field.

Job Description:

  • Lead research in low-carbon and just transitions in electricity systems.
  • Develop operational and planning models of electricity systems.
  • Conduct spatial analysis of generation resources, load forecasting, and climate and health impact analysis.
  • Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and open-source modeling software.
  • Present research findings to diverse stakeholders and conduct training.
  • Work closely with lab collaborators, graduate students, and postdocs.
