- Priority to candidates who completed their doctoral degree within three years before the application deadline.
- Special circumstances considered for candidates with longer completion times (e.g., illness, parental leave).
- Experience in advanced experimental research, method development within chromatography–mass spectrometry, and biogeochemical studies of nanoparticulate forms of trace metals is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in spoken and written English.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Develop advanced analytical methods combining inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) techniques.
- Characterize nanoparticles using electron microscopy and X-ray techniques.
- Study naturally formed HgS(np) in pore waters from sediments and their role in mercury cycling.
- Relate concentrations and size distributions of HgS(np) to factors such as pH and dissolved organic carbon, and investigate their implications for mercury transformations in soils and sediments.
