AIIMS Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India, with collaborative research activities involving IIT Roorkee.

Eligibility / Qualification

Candidates must have:

  • A Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or an allied discipline from a recognized university/institute.
  • At least 2 years of post-Ph.D. research experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong hands-on experience in NGS and/or third-generation/long-read sequencing.
  • Demonstrable experience with Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT), including library preparation, sequencing workflow, and data generation.
  • Strong working knowledge of bioinformatics and computational sequencing-data analysis.

Desirable expertise includes ONT MinION/GridION, Sanger and MiSeq sequencing, WGS, metagenomics, short- and long-read data analysis, microbial genomics/AMR bioinformatics tools, Linux/Unix scripting using Python/R/Bash, and handling clinical or microbiological samples.

Job Description / Key Responsibilities

The selected researcher will:

  • Perform and/or coordinate Oxford Nanopore, Sanger, MiniSeq and other sequencing workflows.
  • Generate, process and analyse whole-genome and metagenomic datasets.
  • Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines for microbial genome and AMR analysis.
  • Identify pathogens, antimicrobial-resistance determinants and genomic signatures.
  • Integrate genomic information with microbiological, clinical and phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility data.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation, data management and quality-control procedures.
  • Contribute to manuscripts, scientific presentations, reports and intellectual-property development.
  • Collaborate with research teams at AIIMS Rishikesh and IIT Roorkee.
  • Participate in molecular biology, microbiology, sequencing and computational activities related to the project.
  • Contribute to translational research aimed at developing clinically relevant diagnostic and antimicrobial susceptibility solutions.

Fellowship / Benefits

The selected candidate will receive a consolidated fellowship of ₹58,800 per month + 10% HRA. The appointment is initially for two years, subject to project requirements and applicable ICMR/AIIMS rules.
