Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), an apex autonomous body under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for 12 positions at the BRIC Secretariat, New Delhi.
The posts are to be filled on Direct Recruitment basis (Scientific positions) as well as on Deputation (including short term contract) basis (Administrative positions), in accordance with the BRIC Secretariat Recruitment Rules, 2025.

BRIC is the apex coordinating body for 13 autonomous research institutes under DBT and plays a key role in strategic coordination, oversight, and support of biotechnology research across India.

Eligibility / Qualification

1. Scientific Positions (Direct Recruitment)

Common essential qualification (for Post Codes 1, 2, 3):

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in any area of:
- Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Chemical / Computational and Information / Agricultural / Pharmaceutical / Veterinary Sciences
  from a recognized University or Institute.

Experience requirements (post-Ph.D.):

Post Code 1 – Deputy Director General (Science), Level 14
- At least 16 years of post-qualification experience in:
  - Research and Development, or
  - Management and administration, or
  - Planning, or
  - Industrial or academic institutions, or
  - Science and Technology organizations
- Experience must reflect a broad perspective of biotechnology.
Post Code 2 – Director (Science), Level 13A
- At least 12 years of post-qualification experience in any of the above domains with a broad perspective of biotechnology.
Post Code 3 – Deputy Director (Science), Level 12
- At least 4 years of post-qualification experience in any of the above domains with a broad perspective of biotechnology.

Age Limit (Direct Recruitment):

As per table: 50 years for all three scientific posts.
Age relaxation: Applicable as per Government of India rules.

2. Administrative Positions (Deputation including Short-term Contract)

General conditions for deputation:

Applicants must be officers from Central Govt./State Govt./Universities/PSUs/Govt.-funded research organizations/institutions
OR officials from Institutes/Universities/Industry not directly related with Government holding equivalent posts in reputed academic/research institutes/industry with the required qualifications and experience.
Age limit: Up to 56 years as on the last date of application.
Period of deputation:
- Minimum 3 years, extendable up to 5 years as per DoPT rules, with consent of the individual and lending organization.

Post Code 4 – Director (Administration), Level 13

Essential qualification:

Post Graduate degree in the relevant functional area
OR
Graduate degree with a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in the relevant functional area
OR
CA / ICWA / CMA / CS

Experience:

Minimum 15 years’ post-qualification supervisory experience.

Desirable:

Knowledge of Government Rules and Regulations.
Experience of working in a computerized environment.

Service conditions for eligibility:

Officials from Central/State Govt./Universities/PSUs/Govt.-funded organizations:
- (i) Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre; OR
- (ii) With 10/5 years regular service in Pay Level 11 / Pay Level 12 of Pay Matrix in the relevant field.
Officials from Institutes/Universities/Industry not directly related with Government:
- Holding an equivalent post in a reputed academic/research institute or industry with qualification and experience as above.

Post Code 5 – Director (Finance), Level 13

Essential qualification and experience:

Same structure as Post Code 4, but in the finance-related functional area:
- Post Graduate degree in relevant functional area
  OR Graduate degree with two-year PG diploma in relevant functional area

- Minimum 15 years’ post-qualification supervisory experience.

Desirable:

Identical pattern to Director (Administration):

(i) Holding analogous post on regular basis; or
(ii) 10/5 years regular service in Level 11/12, OR
