Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra invites applications for Recruitment of Faculty Members from eligible and interested candidates

Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra invites applications from dynamic and academically accomplished individuals for Assistant Professor (Contractual) positions in the Centre for Food Engineering and Technology, Department of Chemical Engineering. The appointment will be purely on contract (renewable based on performance and requirement) with a consolidated pay of ₹60,000 – ₹75,000 per month.

Candidates must possess strong academic credentials, effective teaching skills, and a passion for impactful research.

Research Area:Food Process Engineering / Food Engineering & Technology / Agricultural Engineering or allied Engineering & Technological fields.

Location: Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, Ranchi – Jharkhand, India
(Selected candidates may be posted or transferred to any of BIT’s off-campuses.)

Eligibility/Qualification:

Essential Qualifications:
B.Tech. & M.Tech. in Food Process Engineering / Food Engineering & Technology / Agricultural Engineering or allied Engineering & Technological disciplines.
Ph.D. in directly relevant/associated subject areas (mandatory for all faculty positions).
First Class in both UG and PG degrees.
Age: Below 40 years (age limit may be relaxed for outstanding candidates).
Desired Attributes:
Strong fundamentals and excellent technical knowledge.
Effective communication and teaching skills with the ability to inspire students.
Demonstrated passion for research and publications.
Post-Ph.D. teaching and/or research experience.
Teamwork, innovation, and a positive academic approach.

Job Description:

Designation: Assistant Professor (On Contract)

Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Food Process and related Engineering disciplines.
Conduct high-quality research aligned with the department’s focus areas.
Supervise students’ research and projects.
Contribute to curriculum development and departmental academic activities.
Participate in seminars, presentations, and institutional service.

Selection Process

All shortlisted candidates will undergo three stages of evaluation:

Screening of applications
Seminar Presentation
Final Interview

The final decision of selection will be based on academic credentials, professional experience, research contributions, and overall performance during assessments.
