Research Associate at Lancaster University: We are seeking a Senior Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Prof. Mick Urbaniak in the Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences at Lancaster University, UK. This one-year, BBSRC-funded project will investigate heat shock signalling and response in African trypanosomes using a combination of genetic and proteomic techniques.

  • PhD in Biochemistry or a related subject
  • Strong background in trypanosome cell biology or quantitative proteomics
  • Essential experience: molecular biology, cell culture techniques, data analysis, and interpretation
  • Desirable experience: working with Trypanosoma brucei and Trypanosoma congolense, RNA, and proteomic techniques (training will be provided)

Job Description:
As a Senior Research Associate, you will join a small, dedicated team in a well-equipped laboratory space that includes Biohazard Category 2 and 3 laboratories. The Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences is a vibrant and supportive environment, committed to understanding basic cellular and physiological mechanisms that underpin disease states. You will be involved in a project focusing on how trypanosomes use post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression to respond to environmental changes, such as fever within the mammalian host.
