Eligibility/Qualification–
Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Essential Qualification:
- Postgraduate degree (minimum 55% marks) in:
- Genetics & Plant Breeding
- Plant Pathology
- Agricultural Botany
- Plant Biotechnology
- Any other branch of Life Sciences
- Must have qualified NET (ICAR/CSIR/UGC) or GATE
Desirable Qualification:
- Experience in:
- Plant Breeding
- Genetics
- Biochemistry
- Plant Physiology
Age Limit:
- Maximum 28 years as on the date of interview
- Age relaxation as per GoI rules for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Female candidates
Research Associate-I (RA-I)
Essential Qualification:
- Ph.D. in:
- Genetics & Plant Breeding
- Plant Pathology
- Agricultural Botany
- Plant Biotechnology
- Or a relevant discipline from a reputed university/institute
Desirable Qualification:
- Proven track record in:
- Molecular biology
- Biotechnology techniques
- Genomic pipelines
- At least two (02) research papers as First Author or Equal First Author in SCI-indexed journals
Age Limit:
- Maximum 40 years as on the date of interview
- Age relaxation as per GoI rules
Job/Position Description-
Applications are invited for a walk-in interview for temporary project-based positions under a DBT-funded research project titled “Study of the Complex Genetic System for Developing a Package of RIS Genes to Breed for Spot Blotch Resistance in Bread Wheat”. The positions are available in the Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. The interview will be held on 30 January 2026 at 11:00 AM.

- Assist in field experiments, data collection, and laboratory-based molecular work

- Prepare research reports, publications, and project documentation
- Support the Principal Investigator in project execution
