Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential Qualification
Candidates must have:
- A Ph.D. in any branch of Biological Sciences from a reputed university.
- At least one first-author research paper published in a standard refereed journal listed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR).
- The publication must have an impact factor of 3 or higher.
Desirable Experience/Knowledge
Candidates with experience or knowledge in the following areas will be preferred:
- Recombinant protein production
- Protein purification
- Enzyme kinetics
- Microbial culture
- Fermentation
- Related biotechnology and molecular biology techniques
Age Limit
The maximum age limit is 35 years as on the closing date of the advertisement.
Job/Position Description-
Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU), under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, invites applications for one Research Associate position to work on a Department of Biotechnology (Government of India)-funded research project titled “Climate resilience by employing rare microbial metabolites and bioactive peptides of microbial and plant origin.”
The project is being carried out in collaboration with BRIC–National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR) and CSIR–Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP). The selected candidate will be based at Gujarat Biotechnology University, Gandhinagar. The position is purely temporary and will be co-terminus with the project.

The selected Research Associate will work on the DBT-funded project “Climate resilience by employing rare microbial metabolites and bioactive peptides of microbial and plant origin.”
The research will focus on the investigation and application of microbial metabolites and bioactive peptides of microbial and plant origin for developing approaches toward climate resilience.
The candidate is expected to contribute to project-related experimental research, particularly in areas such as recombinant protein production, protein purification, enzyme kinetics, microbial culture, fermentation, and other relevant biotechnology techniques.
The initial appointment will be for one year. The tenure may be extended until the completion of the project based on the candidate’s satisfactory performance. The position is purely temporary and will automatically terminate with the project.
Fellowship/Emoluments
₹58,000 per month + 9% HRA
