Designation/Position- Research Associate Post at NISER
NISER Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India invites application for Research Associate Post at NISER from eligible and interested candidates
About- NISER recognizes that modern scientific research is carried out in interstices amongst fuzzy domains and blurred boundaries. This entails encouraging a new scientific culture where members of our community attain intellectual agility unconstrained by the limitations of disciplinary conventions from the past. Faculty and Students will be given generous material support in the pursuit to realize this objective. Time and conversational space will be devoted to nascent propositions and hypothesis and the significantly small student-faculty ratio, an eventual full strength of 2000 students and 300 faculty, manifests the Institute’s investment and hope in the future. Research Associate Post at NISER

Research Area: Quantum Materials, DFT, ML-driven Computational Methods
Location- NISER Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India
Eligibility/Qualification–
The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in theoretical physics, materials science, quantum chemistry, or data sciences, either provisionally or completed. Prior experience with DFT-based molecular and solid-state codes is highly desirable. An interest in ML and NN frameworks for workflow development will be essential.
Job/Position Description-
We are seeking a motivated, creative, and ambitious researcher to join our group focused on interdisciplinary research at the interface of science and engineering. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment to investigate quantum materials using DFT and related computational methods, with a strong interest in integrating Machine Learning (ML) and Neural Networks (NN) into computational workflows.
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to innovative projects at the quantum scale, focusing on ground and excited state properties of materials, structural phase transitions, and topological phases of solids. Projects will involve computational explorations of materials such as 2D magnets, halide double perovskites, and heterostructures, with applications in quantum technologies. The research may include collaborations with other groups and use of state-of-the-art DFT-based software and ab-initio codes. We offer a 1-year contract, with possible extension, a competitive salary, and a vibrant, inspiring environment with cutting-edge resources.
