About- The School of Biochemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, invites applications for the post of Research Associate (RA) in a DBT-sponsored research project titled “To Establish a Scalable, Pilot-Level Biomanufacturing Process for Epirubicin Production Using Microbes Streptomyces clavuligerus from Cane Molasses (BT/PR61643/BME/172/90/2025).” The position offers a fixed fellowship of ₹65,500 per month and is initially for 6 months, extendable up to 2 years based on performance.

Eligibility/Qualification

Essential Qualification

Applicants should possess:

• Ph.D. or Master’s Degree with at least 3 years of experience in:
  • Biochemical Engineering
  • Biotechnology
  • Microbiology
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Botany
  • or an equivalent discipline.
• At least one SCI-indexed journal publication.

Desirable Qualification

Preference will be given to candidates having experience in:

• Fermentation technology
• Bacterial culture techniques
• Operation of related instruments such as:
  • HPLC
  • Fermenter systems

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 40 years
• Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Handicapped candidates.

Job Description

Designation: Research Associate (RA)

The selected Research Associate will work on a DBT-funded project focused on developing a pilot-scale biomanufacturing process for epirubicin production using Streptomyces clavuligerus cultured on cane molasses. Responsibilities are expected to include:

• Developing and optimizing microbial fermentation processes.
• Conducting bacterial culture experiments.
• Operating fermentation and analytical instruments (including HPLC).
• Assisting in process scale-up and bioprocess optimization.
• Maintaining research records and supporting project deliverables.
• Contributing to scientific publications and project reporting.
