Eligibility / Qualification
1. Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical)
Candidates should have a postgraduate degree, including an integrated postgraduate degree, in Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, along with three years of relevant post-qualification research experience, or a PhD in a relevant discipline, as applicable.
Preferred experience includes:
- CT/DICOM-based medical image processing and 3D segmentation
- Patient-specific 3D modelling and CAD
- Biomaterials, tissue engineering, bone regeneration or additive manufacturing
- FDM-based 3D printing
- Mechanical, physicochemical and/or structural characterization of biomaterials and scaffolds
- Scientific publications in relevant areas.
2. Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical)
A postgraduate degree, including an integrated postgraduate degree, in Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline is required.
Preferred candidates should have experience in at least two of the following:
- Biomaterials, tissue engineering or regenerative medicine
- Additive manufacturing/3D printing, particularly FDM-based fabrication
- CAD, patient-specific 3D modelling and/or medical image processing
- Physicochemical, mechanical or biological characterization of biomaterials and scaffolds.
3. Project Technical Support-III
Candidates should have either:
- A 3-year Graduate degree in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences or Materials Science plus 3 years of post-qualification experience, OR
- A Postgraduate degree in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences or Materials Science.
Preferred experience: Computational modelling relevant to biology/biomedical engineering.
Job Description
Selected candidates will contribute to an interdisciplinary ICMR-funded research project aimed at developing and translationally validating CT-guided, biodegradable, patient-specific implants for mandibular reconstruction following tumor resection and trauma.
The research involves:
- Processing CT/DICOM medical imaging data
- 3D segmentation and extraction of anatomical defects
- Patient-specific 3D modelling and CAD
- Additive manufacturing and 3D printing
- Development and evaluation of regenerative biomaterials
- Fabrication of polymer/polymer–bioactive glass composite systems
- Mechanical, physicochemical and structural characterization
- Preclinical and translational research activities
Researchers will work in collaboration with biomedical/engineering scientists, maxillofacial and plastic surgeons, and scientists involved in large-animal preclinical evaluation.
