About- The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Guwahati (NIPER-G), an Institute of National Importance under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India, has announced recruitment for the position of Project Scientist-III under the sponsored research project “Bioactivity guided fractionation, isolation and characterization of marker compounds from the edible fungus Cordyceps sinensis and Ganoderma lucidum” (GAP-182). Eligible Indian candidates with a PhD in Chemistry/Natural Product Chemistry and relevant research experience are invited to apply through the online application portal.

Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- PhD in Chemistry, Natural Product Chemistry, or an equivalent discipline related to natural products.
- A preceding first-class Master’s degree (M.Sc./M.Pharm./M.S. or equivalent).
- Valid GATE or CSIR-NET qualification (mandatory).
- At least three research publications in journals having an Impact Factor greater than 3.
Desirable Qualifications
Candidates with the following will be preferred:
- Experience in natural product isolation and purification.
- Expertise in characterization techniques such as:
- HPLC
- Mass Spectrometry (MS)
- Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)
- Strong publication record in the relevant research area.
Age Limit
- Maximum 40 years (as on 14 August 2026) for General/EWS candidates.
- Age relaxation up to 5 years for:
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)
- SC/ST
- Differently Abled candidates
- Women candidates

Designation: Project Scientist-III
The selected Project Scientist-III will contribute to a sponsored research project focused on identifying and characterizing bioactive compounds from medicinal edible fungi. Responsibilities include:
- Isolation and purification of natural products.
- Bioactivity-guided fractionation studies.
- Structural characterization using advanced analytical instruments.
- Conducting laboratory research and data analysis.
- Preparing scientific reports and research publications.
- Supporting project objectives and collaborating with the research team.
The appointment is purely temporary and project-based for one year and may be extended based on performance, funding availability, and project duration.
