Eligibility/Qualification–
Age | Not exceeding 40 years for SC candidates as on normal closing date in respect of vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/ UT Government Servant upto five years as per instructions/order issued by Govt. of India from time to time. |
Essential Qualification (s) | A- EDUCATIONAL Master’s Degree in Physics from a recognized University or Institute OR Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering /Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized University or Institute. B- EXPERIENCE 01 year practical experience in testing / calibration and evaluation of electrical stores / materials / measuring instruments in a recognized laboratory/institute with Master’s Degree in Physics. 02 years practical experience in testing / calibration and evaluation of electrical stores / materials / measuring instruments in a recognized laboratory/institute with Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering /Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized University or Institute. Note- (i) The qualification are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission in case of candidates otherwise well qualified. Note (ii) The qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, if at any stage of selection the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from the community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancy reserved for them. |
Desirable Qualification (s) | Research and Development experience in testing and evaluation techniques, material science, quality control, standardization and calibration. |
Job/Position Description-
Pay Scale | Pay Level – 10 in the pay matrix |
Duty(ies) | Scientist-B (Electrical) is overall in charge of Electrical discipline. He/She scrutinizes the test request/forwarding letters, allocates the samples to the Scientific Officer and Scientific Assistant, supervises & sorts out the technical/administrative problems. Checks the draft test certificates and sign the final test certificate. Initiates all purchase cases & assists Scientist C in all technical / purchase /administrative matters. |
Probation | One year. |
Headquarters | Headquarters in Kolkata. Candidate is liable to serve anywhere in India in NTH’s Regional Offices. |
Other Details | General Central Service, Group A’ Gazetted (Non-Ministerial). The post is permanent. |
