2 Open Topic Postdoctoral Position: The Helmholtz Institute for Human-Centered AI is inviting applications for two fully-funded, open-topic postdoctoral positions. This is an excellent opportunity for researchers with a Ph.D. in cognitive science, machine learning, computer science, or any computational field, to join an interdisciplinary research group in Munich. The positions are expected to commence on April 1st, 2024, with flexibility, and are initially for a period of 2 years, extendable based on successful evaluation.
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Human and machine learning, computational models of human learning and decision-making, computational psychiatry, understanding large language models, cognitively-inspired machine learning (especially using deep learning).
Location: Munich
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in cognitive science, machine learning, computer science, or a related computational field.
- Proficiency in cognitive modeling, strong programming skills, and project management experience.
- Background in empirical research, psychiatry, machine learning, cognitive/computational modeling.
- Evidence of self-motivation and independence.
- Experience in working with students is a plus.
Job Description:

- Collaborate with Dr. Eric Schulz and Ph.D. students on human and machine learning research.
- Explore computational models of human learning and decision-making.
- Contribute to research in computational psychiatry and understanding large language models.

- Manage projects, conduct cognitive experiments, and use various research methods.
