Eligibility/Qualification:
- Open to domestic and international post-graduates.
- Must identify as Indigenous to Turtle Island and/or Black.
- Must have obtained a doctoral degree within the last five years.
- Must not have held a Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship previously.
Job Description: The Postdoctoral Fellow will:
- Begin the fellowship by January 2025.
- Be a postdoctoral employee of the University of Toronto.
- Be associated with a supervisor appointed to a graduate unit.
- Register and remain registered with the Postdoctoral Office at SGS.
- Not hold concurrently another major fellowship.
- Not hold a faculty position or be on leave from such a position.
- Establish an Independent Development Plan (IDP) and submit it to SGS within the first three months of the fellowship.
- Submit proof of completion of the degree no later than three months after the fellowship commences if not fulfilled at the time of nomination.

- Potential nominees should contact potential supervisors at UTSC.
- Supervisors submit a notice of intent by February 16, 2024, and the complete nomination package by March 1, 2024.
- Nomination package includes nominee information, nomination and supervisor letters, research proposal, training statement, CV, and a short biography.
Last Date for Apply: The deadline for the complete nomination package is 01 March 2024.
Selection Criteria:
- Innovative and/or original research plan.
- Academic and research training.
- Scholarly potential and contributions to the discipline.
- Feasibility of the proposed research.
- Evaluation based on a scoring rubric used by SGS.
Results:
- UTSC will nominate their top three candidates in each self-identification category.
- Results of the University-wide Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship program competition at SGS will be available in May.
